Joy of Devotion

Krsna is Supreme personality of Godhead and any activity done to please him gives joy to him as well as you. He is the master of the senses so when you satisfy his senses your senses get automatically satisfied. Devotion is easiest and natural way to be joyful. In fact, krsna in 2nd chapter of Bhagwat Gita says” One who is not connected with the Supreme personality of Godhead can have neither transcendental intelligence nor a steady mind, without which there is no possibility of peace. And how can there be any happiness without peace? And how can we get connected to Krsna? Simple!! Just by performing loving devotional service- mainly hearing his pass times and chanting of his name.

Devotional service performed under the guidance of spiritual master is bound to increase your “Joy of devotion” day by day.  As Chaitanya Mahaprabhu – the combine incarnation of Sri Sri Radha and Krsna says in his teachings known as “Shikshastakam”: Cheto darpan marjanam bhava davagni nirvapanam shreyaha kairava chandrika vitaranam Vidya vadhu jivanama anandambudhi vardhanam pratipadam purnamrita swadanam sarvatma svapanam param vijayate sri krsna sankirtanam”

The congregational chanting of hare krsna maha mantra cleanses our heart and all the dust accumulated for the years and years. It helps us to taste the nectar of devotion. When we continuously engage our senses in pleasing the lotus feet of Krsna; it increases the ocean of transcendental bliss. When our mind is completely washed of all material contamination through the loving devotional service, we become eligible to taste the joy of devotion. As they rightly say” the proof of pudding is in the eating”, unless and until we get freed from clutches of Maya and get out of the bodily conception of life, we cannot get the higher taste in devotion.

One has to properly study the science of devotion. As Krsna says in the 9th chapter of Bhagwat Gita” This knowledge is the king of education, the most secrets of all the secrets. It is the purest knowledge, and because it gives direct perception of the self by realization, it is perfection of religion. It is everlasting and it is joyfully performed”. So how we can imbibe and inculcate this king of knowledge? The answer is by inquiring submissively from the spiritual master and by rendering service unto him. The self realized soul can impart knowledge because they have seen the truth. AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupad has created a platform by creating “International Society for Krsna consciousness “ for the conditioned souls to get connected with Krsna and his internal potency Radha.

This human birth is rarest of rare gift bestowed upon us. We cannot afford to lose this chance and get caught in chain of repeated birth and death. If we want to achieve perfection in this life then we have to accept our scriptures such as Gita and Srimat Bhagwatam to get out of this miserable world. The Joy of devotion lies in following the yuga dharma which is chanting of Hare Krsna maha mantra.

Just chant Hare krsna hare krsna krsna krsna hare hare
Hare ram hare ram ram ram hare hare & be happy…

The untold story of Rani Ratnavati

King Akbar had photographs of three great devotees in his altar, Swami Sri Haridas- the great devotee of krsna-Guru of Tansen, second Saint shri Vitthal nath  and third one- the Queen of Amer-Rani Ratnavati- the Queen who left her opulence, family and everything for Krsna.

Devotees might come in your life as your servant, friend or as a son, one should always respect them as their mere presence can change your destiny. Those who are the servant of supreme personality of godhead Krsna, are worthy of love and respect.  The queen of Amer ( Rajsthan), the daughter in law of King Prithviraj Chouhan was thus blessed by her servant with the gift of love of Krsna.

Dasi of Rani Ratnavati was initiated by great guru-Vitthalnath ji, this dasi personally served the Queen. Vaishnavas are blessed with divine qualities and so was this vaishnavi, she would keep quiet and chant all the time “Hey Nandanandan, Hey Raghunandan, hey Murali Manohar, these names of krsna, purified the Queen. Queen at times had tears in her eyes to hear these names from dasi.

An advance vaishanava continuously exhibits symptoms of ecstatic love.  Dasi would sometimes cry profusely thinking of krsna, sometimes she would laugh loudly, this took the Queen by surprise. One fine day when the dasi was showing ecstatic symptoms of love for Krsna, the Queen touched her hand. The mere touch of a dasi electrified the Queen and then she asked “Who is this Nanda Nandan? Why you cry for him? Why you love him so much, why you call him all the time? Is there anything wrong with you? Should I call a doctor for you? The dasi said” Oh dear Rani, your doctors can not cure my disease".

Rani said” Even king Akbar consults our doctors, why can’t they fix your problem? To which the dasi said” Oh dear Queen, this disease of separation from Krsna, which can’t be cured by any doctor. I did not know that I will get this disease by loving Krsna. I don’t want to give you my pain. Queen forced her to tell about Krsna, Dasi said” This disease is caused by hearing about him, so please don’t hear about him. This is contagious disease caused merely by hearing about him”. When I went to Vrindavan I got it from there. Queen forced her to tell and said” oh dasi, I can afford this disease as I am the Queen I can get medicine on it easily”.  Dasi started smiling and said” This katha of krsna won’t allow you to be Queen anymore; you will incessantly cry like me, I am your dasi I can tolerate it but you are soft hearted Queen and it will be difficult for you to tolerate this disease of separation”.

After testing Rani Ratnavati, dasi said” You will have to walk on fire bed, are you ready? You will have to leave your opulence; if you can leave it then I can tell you about Nanda nandan”, you better enjoy your kingdom and opulence”. Rani said” I can do anything to hear about your krsna. Dasi then told each and every katha of Krsna to the Queen and then she was like never before. Rani took her dasi as a guru and said "You won’t serve me anymore, now you will tell me about Krsna", and thus days and nights passed, Rani Ratnavati kept hearing about Krsna from her dasi. Pain of separation grew in her heart and she felt she cannot live without Krsna and she must see her beloved Krsna once. Ultimately, she became the cryer and was desperate for Krsna. Rani would sit at the lotus feet of her dasi who was an exalted devotee and now her Guru. At times Rani allowed her to sit her on her throne.

The body of devotee is purely transcendental; it cannot be restricted to material positions and relations like servant, friend, father or mother. In the absence of dasi, Rani would continuously chant hari nam, weep and beg Krsna for his darshan. Engaged in astyam seva- continuous service of Krsna, she saw dreams of her playing Raas with Krsna. Krsna started appearing in her dreams and in the deity form Krsna would accept her service. Advised by Dasi, Rani started serving sadhus for more advancement in her Bhaav. Rani started serving and feeding saints, in fact she created separate ashram for sadhus and eventually her glories reached to Vrindavan and sadhus from Vrindavan came to see such an exalted devotee. Dasi stopped her from mixing with sadhus as she was Queen and was not allowed to go out but Rani started dancing with sadhus in Hari Kirtan as she saw Krsna himself was dancing with these Vrindavan sadhus. Dasi warned her of consequences and the news broke out that the Queen of Amer Rani Ratnavati is dancing madly in ecstatic love of Krsna with sadhus of Vrindavan. The ministers of King conspired against Queen and did not like Queen dancing. Non devotees plotted against Queen and made stories against her that reached to the King.

Venom was spread against her and ministers told the king, that Queen is breaking the principles of religion. Prem Sing the son of Queen became a vaishnava in her association and started chanting hari nam, this instigated King further and When the king saw his son with Tilaka and mala in his hand, he took his sword to Kill his own son and said” I will kill him and his mother” But people somehow stopped him. Things got worse when King saw his wife in totally detached avatar; the Queen had shaved her head and wore dress of sadhvi. As Queen was popular among the masses due to her devotion towards Krsna, ministers told King not to kill her directly. Ministers suggested the king to bring man-eater lion and let the lion eat the Queen. Soon King sent lion into her palace and As lion entered in her palace, dasi shouted, “Oh Queen, lion, lion has entered” to which the fearless Rani Ratnavati said” Oh Lord Narsinh has come” seeing her bhaav, Krsna took the form of Lord Narsinh & appeared in front of her, Those ministers who were watching it thinking Queen would be killed through window saw Rani ratnavati worshipping Lord Narsinh and Lord Narsinh had tears in his eyes to see the love and service Rani Ratnavati. Lord Narsinh blessed her dasi too.

Then Lord Narsinh attacked ministers and killed all those who had plotted against Queen, Lord then kicked the throne of King, the king Madhav Singh fell down, The lord did not kill him as he was husband of Queen, he just slapped him and disappeared. Maan Singh the brother in law of Queen-the commander in chief of King Akbar and Madhav singh fell down at the lotus feet of Rani Ratnavati and  asked for forgiveness.

(Vitthal nath ji was  the son of Mahaprabhu Vallabhacharya (Pushti Sampraday) as per Chaitanya Charitamrit, Vitthal nath  ji lived in Mathura and served Gopal ji now known as Srinath ji -in Nathdwara Rajasthan. The disciples of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu namley Srila Rupa Goswami and Srila Sanatana Goswami would often meet Vitthal nath ji and lived with him for months  in Mathura worshipping Srinath ji.)

IF you happen to be a devotee...spend well..

Once while coming back from his Kashi prayag tour Saint Eknath saw a donkey in an unconscious state.  Without thinking for a minute he quenched the thirst of a donkey by giving him sacred Ganga teerth. Ganga teerth was supposed to be used for religious purpose. Sages alongside him criticized him for this act. Saint Eknath said” Can there be any greater deed than saving a life of dying soul”. Sages left him and moved ahead. While feeding, Lord Shiva who disguised himself as a donkey appeared in front of him and blessed him. Crux of the story is, pure devotees see God everywhere even in lowest of animals.  Swami Sri Tulasi das would see Lord Sri Ram and Sita in every human being. “Siya ram mai sab jag jana”. This category of devotees is called “UTTAM ADHIKARI”. If you want to please the Supreme personality of Godhead Krishna, you need to please his pure devotees. How can you serve Swami Sri Tulasi Das and Saint Eknath? Just by reading their books, if you read and distribute Sri Ram charit manas and Bhagwat written by Saint Eknath, you will definitely please the God.

There  are few things in common between these two saints. Both served the Lord by writing his glories. So called religious people at that time strongly condemned Sri Ram Charit Manas and Eknathi Bhagwat. Both events occurred in Kashi. Saints decided to put Sri Ram Charit Manas in famous Kashivishweshar temple for a night. They thought if Lord Shiva approves it, we will accept it. Next day, they found something written on the book- SATYAM SHIVAM SUNDARAM. Saint Eknath was told to throw his commentary on eleventh canto of Bhagwat known as “Eknathi Bhagwat”in Ganga. Accepting the will of so called sages that time, Saint Eknath drowned his Bhagwat set into Ganga. After sometime the sages saw something coming out of water; Mother Ganges came out carrying Eknathi Bhagwat on her head. Oppose to uttam adharis is not only done by materialistic people (non devotees) but also done by “Kanistha Adhikaris”. Those who think God is present only in deities not anywhere else are Kanistha Adhikaris. They don’t believe in serving all and seeing God everywhere. Madhyam Adhikaris are somewhat better than Kanistha Adhikaris.

IF you want to spend on religion, buying and distributing books of great uttam adhikaris is better option. Donation should not be sentimental or timely. Krishna in seventieth chapter of Bhagwat geeta says” donation should be offered to right man at a right place and at a right time. Ekadashis, sacred month of Kartik, appearance, disappearance days of saints, Janmastami  festivals etc. is the right time to donate. It is not about donation, it is about “helping a man close to God”. The more you help Madhyam and Uttam Adhikaris, the more the God is pleased. It takes time to know, you need to observe the behavior of devotees before you commit something. IF you stop donating, the kanistha adhikaris blaspheme you or hurt you. Then everything goes waste and people start repenting.

Food donation to people regularly chanting Krishna name, reading scriptures, hearing and preaching Lord’s message is another good option, if you want to donate.  As per the scriptures, food donation is considered as “Maha-danam”. Materialistic people always come out with the theory that instead of donating to temples we should feed poor people but just by donating food once we cannot cease their hunger forever. It should be continuous. The best service for poor according to saints is to awaken them, enlighten them and make them god-conscious. God conscious people are the asset to society. Uttam adhikari like Rishi Narad has turned dacoits and murderers into saints.  If somebody reads the books written by pure devotees, surely his life will change and he/she will easily get rid of their bad habits. Donation or “Religious spent” should not be done just for the sake of doing it; there should be purpose behind it.  It not only purifies us but it also purifies our wealth. Impure wealth brings Impure Karma with it. It is always suggested by sages to purify wealth by donating. Krishna says “Yagya, danam and tapa na kadapi tyajet”. One should never leave these three things.

One smart option for donation is serving old devotees, mostly patients. There is growing concern amongst saints that qualified young working sons do not even like spend on their parents. Working class is so busy in sense gratification and bodily needs that they forget about religious donation, they don’t even do what was supposed to be done by them for their parents.  When Krishna rescued his parents he said “even if I try for hundred years, I cannot be out of your debts”. Those who do not serve their parents with body, mind and wealth are made to eat their own flesh in hell”. If you happen to see old man or woman and the orphans who do not have any support, Krishna will be pleased if you serve them and pay for their medical expenses.

Krishna once told to his favorite devotee Uddhava, if you serve cows it will be considered as my seva. Serving cows is equal to serving Krishna. Mere feeding grass to cows is not enough. If possible we can provide medicines and at times or can pay to veterinary doctors who serve cows.  Apart from that there many good “Go-shalas” in India that take care of cows very well and they require many things. Getting in touch with them and knowing their predicament and fulfilling it- another good option.

Above all else- donating is a transcendental quality. It does not come cheaply to even those who are walking on the path of devotion.  Saint Eknath writes in his Bhagwat that “You will see people dancing in temple on kirtans, you will see them crying while hearing katha, you will see them chanting Lord’s name for hours but when it comes to spending money, when somebody asks for donation, they will run away. When others help these devotees they will say” you are doing nice service”, as long as others help them they are happy but they do nothing in return for them. When somebody is offering gifts to them they have all the nice words, but when you ask them what are you doing for them in return or “have you ever served cows, donated books, helped anybody financially – the answer is NO. Saint Eknath says” the attachment to the wealth or being a miser in the path of devotion is big Anartha.  When a devotee gets true mercy of a Vaishnava and Krishna, when a devotee gets the blessings of his Spiritual master, then only he gets this quality of “DONATING”. I repeat it is quality of demi-gods hence transcendental and very rare.

When Krishna appeared in Gokul, Nand Maharaj donated elephants, horses, gold, grains and what not. Mother Yashoda-Yash da- is giver of success. Krishna chose parents who take joy in giving; Krishna loves this quality. MIND IT.

JUST CHANT “HARE KRISHNA HARE KRISHNA KRISHNA KRISHNA HARE HARE, HARE RAM HARE RAM RAM RAM HARE HARE AND BE HAPPY.

Yuga Dharma in the Kaliyuga

Just chant

Hare krishna hare krishna krishna krishna hare hare
hare ram hare ram ram ram hare hare

By this mantra, the people worship Lord Krishna in Dvapara Yug. In kali-Yug the occupational duty of the people is to chant congregationally the holy name of Krishna.

In the Age of Kali, Lord Krishna assumes a golden color and, accompanied by His personal devotees, introduces hari nama sankirtana, the chanting of the Hare Krishna. By this process He delivers love for Krishna to the general populace.

"Lord Krishna, the son of  Nand Maharaja, personally introduces the occupational duty of the Age of Kali. He personally chants and dances in ecstatic love, and thus the entire world chants congregationally.

In the Age of Kali, intelligent persons perform Congregational chanting to worship the incarnation of Godhead who constantly sings the name of Krishna. Although His complexion is not blackish, He is Krishna Himself. He is accompanied by His associates, servants, weapons and confidential companions.'

"In the other three Yugs —Satya, Treta and  Dvapara — people perform different types of spiritual activities. Whatever results they achieve in that way, they can achieve in Kali Yug simply by chanting the Hare Krishna maha mantra.

"'My dear King, although Kali Yug is full of faults, there is still one good quality about this age. It is that simply by chanting the Hare Krishna maha mantra, one can become free from material bondage and be promoted to the transcendental kingdom.'

'Whatever result was obtained in Satya Yug by meditating on Vishnu, in  Treta Yug by performing sacrifices and in Dvapara yug by serving the Lord's lotus feet can also be obtained in kali yug simply by chanting the Hare Krishna maha mantra.

'Whatever is achieved by meditation in Satya  yug, by the performance of  Yajna in Treta Yug or by the worship of  Krishna’s' lotus feet in Dvapara Yug is also obtained in the Age of Kali simply by chanting the glories of Lord Kesava.'

"'Those who are advanced and highly qualified and are interested in the essence of life know the good qualities of kali Yug. Such people worship the Age of Kali because in this age one can advance in spiritual knowledge and attain life's goal simply by chanting the Hare Krishna maha mantra.

What 13.26 of Geeta tells you!!

“Again there are those who, although not conversant in spiritual knowledge, begin to worship the Supreme Person Krishna upon hearing about Him from others. Because of their tendency to hear from authorities, they also transcend the path of birth and death. (13.26)”.

Over the period of time, the so called Pandits of religion have made the impression that those who do not have the kind of knowledge they have, can not reach to Krishna. The so called custodians of religions have threatened masses by saying this is not according scriptures or not written in vedas’.

However, one can attain Krishna by hearing about him from an authorized person. The Truth of the matter is so called pandits in the name of “Etiquettes and rituals” have troubled simple devotees time and again.

In his Mukund mala stotra, Raja Kulashekhar says “One who hears descriptions of Lord Krishna's pastimes and glorious qualities but whose bodily hair fails to bristle in ecstasy and whose eyes fail to flood with tears of pure love — such a person is indeed the most degraded rascal. What a condemned life he leads!”

Unless and until one has these symptoms or have this kind of Mahabhav, one should restrict himself to be called as a devotee of Krishna.

Krishna is very kind to have come out with this shloka in the thirteenth chapter. As we see, there are numerous devotees of Krishna who have attained his abode by offering different kinds of service to him. There are people who derive happiness only by serving a holy cow; they are mostly worried about saving cows and nurturing them. Neither they have time for reading scriptures nor do they perform any kind of sacrifices or charities.

The story of a great devotee Karma bai is another example of a devotee who was not fully conversant in spiritual knowledge. Karma bai used to treat Krishna as her son. She used to wake up early, prepare food for Krishna without having a bath. After offering food and making Krishna sleep she would do her household work.

One day a learned Bramhin came to her house and said “How can you cook food for the supreme lord without having a bath? She said “For a mother her children are first priority and next come her personal interests”.

Bramhin appreciated her devotion but insisted her to cook food for Krishna after having bath. Karma bai had no choice than to listen to the instructions of learned Bramhin. That night Krishna appeared in the dream of Bramhin and said” You have disturbed poor Karma bai by your silly suggestions, now I have to wait too long for my food. She is my beloved devotee, go and tell her that she doesn’t need to follow the rituals”. Awe struck by the devotion of Karma Bai, Bramhin next day ran into Karma bai’s house and delivered the message of Krishna.

A real devotee of Krishna instead of changing or correcting you increases your attachment to Krishna by understanding your core strengths. A service delivered to such a real devotee is considered even higher than the service delivered to Krishna.
In fact, Krishna says “while visiting a temple, an ignorant person may offer his prayers to me with grammatical mistakes whereas a scholar would speak properly. Still, I accept both prayers equally, for mere learning does not impress me. I am only interested to see the inner mood of surrender of a devotee “.

The stories of Vrindavan

Just back from Vrindavan…what a feeling! It’s a very cool and calm feeling that I am carrying in my heart ever since I came back. Vrindvan is a spiritual wine you would love to drink again and again. It has completely intoxicated me, I feel so satisfied, happy, cheerful, sacred and ecstatic inside. While I was there I did not know what I am going to get out of this tour, I was visiting temples, doing Parikrama’s, chanting and praying everyday but I did not have this feeling there which I am having right now.

Yamuna Devi:
Of the all the evenings of my life, the best evening I ever had, was the one I spent on Keshighat. It is such a great feeling to be at this place. Watching YamunaDevi is like watching goddess, you don’t understand what is happening with you when you look at Yamuna devi - the pap-nashini (Washer of all sins).

You feel like watching Yamuna Devi for a long long time and you remember all the leela’s that Krishna performed near this most pious river. The sister of the god of death Yamuna Devi removes the fear of the death. Yamuna Devi was first to touch the lotus feet of Krishna and bath in Yamuna Devi does help you to understand Vrindavan and Krishna.

Vrinda Kund: Vrinda devi temple is the temple of Tulasi maharani situated nearNandgaon. The atmosphere around this temple is mesmerizing there is absolutely nothing except trees near the temple; it’s a zero crowd place, all you will see around the temple is fields, birds and peace that billions of dollars can’t buy. The only voice you get to hear is the humming of birds 24/7….unbelievably cool and calm place.
The temples of Vrindavan: There are about five thousand temples in Vrindavanamong them all the old temples stand out. There is separate story and importance attached to each temple established by seven Go-swamis who lived in Vrindavan. If you walk into the Govind dev temple you become entitle to enter in heaven, if you take the darshan of Govind dev, Madan mohan and Gopinathtemple in a day you can get the darshan of Krishna in your life time.

Sankirtan and the arti at the Krishna Balram makes you feel, how wonderful life can be at times. Devotees get mad to hear the sankirtan, they dance, they laugh, they cry during sankirtans. Never ever miss the sankirtan of Krishna Balramtemple. How many times I should thank Srila Prabhupada the great, great soul behind this lovely temple.

I was also fortunate to witness “Phool Bangla” festival of Shri Banke Biharitemple. Banke Bihari came out that day and it was quite a magnificent look Banke Bihari had that day…amazing!! Those who go to this temple once, feel like going there again and again..You take a criminal to Banke Bihari temple and he will be a devotee next day...this is not an overstatement( A businessman once went to Mathura to visit his beloved Banke Bihari, as he landed, he hired a taxi to go to Banke Bihari temple. The Businessman asked to Taxi driver" How much I have to pay till Vrindavan"? the taxi driver said" anything you want, I am your servant". The polite taxi driver brought him to the temple. The temple was about to close, the businessman, his wife and his three kids would not have made it to the temple at the rush hour. The taxi driver said" Sir, It will not be possible for you to enter in the temple with your three kids and with this huge luggage, therefore I wait here along with your kids and you come back soon". Businessman was convinced and he ran towards the temple along with his wife, when he came back,he did not find the taxi driver. He was in a state of shock !!. His kids and luggage were missing. He searched them for hours, he was down in the dumps. After while he registered a complaint against the taxi driver. He decided to return to Banke Bihari temple and pray him, as he was climbing steps of the temple, he saw the taxi driver in the temple. The businessman just jumped down at his throat and asked" Where are my kids?
The taxi driver said" I am not a taxi driver, my only job is to kidnap kids and sell them, I went to Yamuna river with your kids and there one boy held my rickshaw and said" I will not allow you to go away from here, return those kids otherwise I will make u blind", "immediately after saying this that he disappeared". "I understood that this boy is nobody else but the supreme godhead Krishna, so I returned to the temple for begging clemency". The businessman thanked thousand times to Krishna and came to know that Krishna takes care of those who enter in Vrindavan. This is a true story happened in the year 1958 ) .
This is the magic of Banke Bihari. You wish anything in Vrindavan, You ask for any help in Vrindavan, the moment anything comes in your mind Krishna will fulfill it and he will save you from all kinds of troubles as long as you stay in Vraj. You have a worry in your mind; you will get a solution immediately in the Vraj as it is not an ordinary land you are walking on, it is the place where krishna lived. Vrindavan is a gift of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu to the world. He discovered the places where Krishna performed his acts like killing demons or performing ras lila

The Sadhus I met: Krishna would climb on Kadamb trees and gather all his cows, that place is called “Ter KadambTer means to call. There was this sadhubabaI met, who is staying there from past 15 years. I was amazed to see his enthusiasm and cheerfulness, the way he was speaking about Krishna. He was staying at a place where there is absolutely no medical help, no shopping malls, no daily needs shop, absolutely zero crowd and the only thing accompanied him from past 15 years is peacocks....unbelievable.

Another sadhu baba I met was during Vrindavan parikrama, whatever he told me was shocking.. he said he has no place to stay and he does not know what he is going get to eat next day. He had stayed at places like radha kund,Govardhan, Haridwar and Mayapur for months like this. These sadhus walk bare feet in 48 degree temperature and have bath at 4 am in the morning in 0 degree winter of Vrindavan without demanding anything in return fromKrishna. That throws a series of some serious questions in my mind like " What to do with those who sit in the Ac office and talk about devotion? What to do with those who throw away poor people thinking that they are presidents and trusties of some temple? What to do with those who are just interested in building big ashrams, gathering money, travel in a luxurious vehicle and increase their number of disciples.

Well finally…those who are serious about self realization and seriously want some progress in devotional life must at least go once to Vrindavan after while the truth will be close to them.

The Glories of Radha Kunda

If ever, there is any great place than “Vaikuntha” then that is Mathura, as lord Krishna descended himself in Mathura but Vrindavan is better than Mathura as Krishna performed Ras lila in Vrindavan and Govardhan is even better than Vrindavan as Krishna lifted Govardhan with his transcendental hand and even better than Govardhan is the kund which is filled with love of Krishna.

Srila Rupa Goswami tells why Radha kunda is great. It is great because it is made by Radha rani the queen of vrindavan. Radha rani who is Param Alhadini shakti of Krishna rules onKrishna. Radha rani can make Krishna smile and cry; she is the Guru of Krishna. Gopis loved Krishna unconditionally and amongst all gopis Radha Rani was the greatest as she had the Mahabhav to love Krishna.

You never make a friendship with a person who is not better than yourself; you always look up to a person who is by all means better than you. Krishna would request Radha rani to be a part of Ras Lila as it would not have been possible without her. Even the great Laxmi can not be a part of Ras lila because of her opulence.

Krishna himself admitted that he will never be able to pay the debt of Gopis because of what they did for Krishna. Gopi’s left their husbands, brothers, relatives and even sons for Krishnaand then why wouldn’t be that place will be great if it is made by them.

Once Krishna killed the demon named Vrishabh Arishtasur, the demon came in a form of a bull and bull is the husband of holy cow, thus Gopis objected on Krishna that he is killed the bull and he needs to purify himself now. Krishna immediately called all the Tirtha’s and made “Sham kunda”to have bath in it. Well, the obligation came on Gopis as they objected onKrishna the supreme Godhead. It was now necessary for them to purify themselves in a similar kunda and thus Gopis dug Kunda by their bangles and created Radha Kunda.

Srila Rupa Goswami in his Updeshamrit says” even for a once if somebody has a bath in the Radha Kunda, immediately he will be blessed with pure love of Krishna. Moreover the merciful Radha rani gives special attention to the devotees who have bath in Radha kunda.

Krishna has called the whole world a miserable place; he has repeated it in 8th and 9thchapter of Bhagwat Geeta saying that this world is “Dukhalayam” and not good enough for honest people to live in it.
However, this does not apply to devotees who stay near Radha kunda. Vrindavan does not entertain emotions & feelings like agony, anguish, depression. These mental states of mind don’t exist in Vrindavan and in Radha kunda. The moment you enter to Radha kund you will feel secured in the hands of Radha rani and ecstatic like never before.

Purity is the word, even demi-gods would not dare to look in the eyes of people who are staying near Radha kunda and chanting the glories of Radha Krishna. If anybody in the world knows how to please Krishna, she is none but the queen of Vrindavan Radha rani, if you pray her she will help you to please Krishna. And finally about Radha Kunda- one poet has rightly said that “Mehboob ki har chij mehboob hoti hai”.

The End
